Piqua Catholic 30 – Minster 12

The Wildcats dropped a 30-12 verdict to Piqua Catholic’s undefeated Cavaliers. Piqua picked up 398 yards by rushing to the Wildcats 247 and collected 17 first downs to Minster’s 13.

Piqua scored early in the contest on a 40-yard march and a pass for the remaining 10 yards to the endzone. The Cavaliers made it 12-0 early in the second quarter with an 80-yard march.

The Wildcats struck paydirt shortly after as Rol Bernhold passed to Bob Tebbe near the 40-yard line and the Minster end scampered all the way.

As the third quarter opened Piqua began a march that covered 60 yards for a third TD. The fourth Cavalier tally also came in the third period on a play that covered 24 yards.

The Wildcats recovered a Piqua fumble on the Cavalier’s 40-yard stripe and drove to their second touchdown early in the final period. Three first downs after the recovery, Doc Hogenkamp plunged over from the three.

A few minutes later Piqua put the game on ice with halfback Peltier scoring after a 25-yard run. Piqua missed all five conversion attempts and the Wildcats failed on both their PAT tries.
