Minster  31    Maria Stein  0

An inspired gang of Minster Wildcats, thirsting to gain revenge for last year’s 8-6 defeat, scored almost at will to trounce the Maria Stein Blu-Jays 31-0 before a capacity homecoming crowd at the Minster athletic field.

The Wildcats displayed a fine defensive line, a quartet of hard running backs and a sensational passing offense that clicked for 11 out of 13 attempts, four of which went for touchdowns.

Minster scored the first time the Wildcats got their hands on the ball on a 65-yard march climaxed when Doc Hogenkamp crashed over tackle from five yards for the score.

Passing accounted for both Minster scores in the second period.  Roll Bernhold’s pass to Zeke Tebbe from the seven made it 12-0.  Another pass, this one from Bernhold to Hogenkamp from the five was good for another TD.

The Maltinskymen came to life again in the final quarter to score twice.  A Hogenkamp to Tebbe pass covered 20 yards for the initial score.  The final tally came on a 20-yard pass from Bernhold to Miller who ran 20 more yards to score.  This time Burger split the upright to make it 31-0.  Minster emptied the bench for the remainder of the game.

Much praise was given to the fighting Wildcat linemen who rose up time and time again to stop the Maria Stein thrusts.  The Blu-Jays were unable to penetrate the Minster 15-yard line.

Minster outgained Maria Stein 469-177 in total yardage for the game.  Both teams had 4 turnovers.
