MINSTER – Minster High
School’s Wildcats won the opening game of the 1956 grid program here last
Friday, defeating Waynesfield 20-7. The
Wildcats opened the scoring with seven points in the second period and added a
pair of touchdowns and an extra point in the third quarter in which Waynesfield
made its lone trip over the Minster goal line.
In the third period
Ted Frericks picked up a ball which was momentarily
bobbled by the Wildcats after a Waynesfield kickoff and returned it 96 yards
for a touchdown. Frericks
also scored a second touchdown while Dave Wetzel scored the third.
The Wildcats are
anticipating tougher opposition this Friday when they entertain Bradford in a
league game.
