Parkway 47-8

MINSTER — Having lost their last three games to New Bremen,
Coldwater and St. Henry, there was some thought that Minster might come out
flat for their matchup with the Parkway Panthers. Instead, the Wildcats scored on six of their
first seven possessions en route to a 47-8 victory.
It took Minster 55 seconds to post the first
score of the game, which was setup when Ty Parks returned the opening kickoff
66 yards to the Parkway 23 yard line. Three plays later Parks scored the touchdown
for the early 7-0 lead. Minster stopped
Parkway on three plays and then needed just four plays to cover the 37 yards
needed for their second score of the quarter.
The Wildcats tacked on four more touchdowns in
the second quarter, on touchdown runs by Parks and Brian Hoelscher,
as well as passes from Parks to Alex Stricker and Justin Spillers.
Parkway put together a nice drive of over six
minutes in the third quarter, capped off by a 13 yard
touchdown pass from David Bell to Mark Snyder.
Minster responded with one last score early in the fourth quarter to
make the final score 47-8 in favor of the Wildcats.
The Wildcat defense had a stellar night, giving
up only 51 yards in 33 Parkway rushing attempts. The pass defense was also stingy, giving up
only 47 yards and intercepting one of Parkway’s 14 aerial attempts.
Ty Parks led all rushers with 117 yards on 24
carries on the night. This brought
Parks’ career rushing total over 4,000 yards.
“He’s done well, but there are a lot of kids in the last 3-4 years that
have blocked and don’t get that kind of glory,” stated Minster coach Whit Parks.
“Ty would be the first to tell you that
those statistics are team milestones.”
Parkway falls to 1-8 (1-6 MAC) with the
loss. The Wildcat record rises to 4-5
(3-5 MAC). Next week Friday Minster
hosts Lima Central Catholic while Parkway ends the season by hosting
Versailles.
