With 35-6 Victory Over LCC

MINSTER — It was a first half of missed opportunities
for the Minster offense, but in the second half the Wildcat defense took
advantage of their opportunities to lead Mister to a 35-6 win over Lima Central
Catholic.
Minster garnered 332 total yards in the first
half, with holding LCC to a mere 55 yards.
However, the halftime score was only 14-0 in the Wildcat’s favor, due to
four Minster drives getting inside the LCC 20 yard line
without yielding any points.
LCC took the opening drive of the second half
66 yards in 12 plays to narrow the Minster lead to
14-6. That is when the Minster defense
decided to put the points on the board themselves. Late in the third quarter, Dane Sommer
intercepted a pass and rambled 30 yards for the score to lengthen the Wildcat lead to 21-6.
An Alex Stricker interception on the next LCC
play set up Minster’s next score, a three yard
touchdown run by Ty Parks. The Wildcats
finished off the scoring in the fourth quarter when Jonathan Borges picked up
an LCC fumble and sprinted 41 yards for the touchdown to make the final score
35-6.
The Wildcat defense had another stellar night,
giving up only 55 yards in the first half, intercepting five LCC passes and
scoring two touchdown.
Ty Parks led all rushers with 128 yards on 28
carries on the night. Thus
Parks finishes his playing days with a record Minster career rushing total of
4,171 yards. Parks also set a personal
career best with 188 passing yards on the night.
It was a convincing final year for the 15
Wildcat seniors. Coach Whit Parks seemed
particularly nostalgic that they ended their careers with a win. “This is the last time for them to run on the
field under the Friday night lights.”
Minster ends their season with a 5-5 record
(3-5 MAC). LCC drops to 2-8.
