Minster 35, Covington 25

COVINGTON — The Wildcats rallied from a 19-14 deficit to beat the Buccs at Smith Field to go into MAC play at 2-0. The Buccs took a 19-14 lead midway through the third quarter on a fumble recovery touchdown, but the Wildcats regained the lead several minutes later thanks to Jacob Niemeyer’s 15-yard scoring pass to Trent Roetgerman.

Niemeyer also hit Brendan Bornhorst for a 45-yard score and Alex Schmitmeyer ran in a score from four yards out to complete the 21-0 run to go up 35-19. The Buccs added a score midway through the fourth quarter, but Minster held on for the win. Schmitmeyer had three touchdown runs on the night. 2-0 Minster travels to 1-1 Fort Recovery next Friday night.
