Easter Buddies #10
Yes, you see that correctly this year (2010) was our 10th time of doing Easter Buddies.  Only God knew this would continue this long.  Only God knew all the "life" that would be experienced by us, the members of Easter Buddies, in this time.  Only God knew exactly which families would be touched by these acts and each of their stories.

Our focus when we started Easter Buddies was a recognition that we had been blessed and wanted to be a blessing.  That has not changed.  But in these 10 years we have seen a whole lot of change
  • Almost all of us have changed jobs on some level.
  • We've celebrated a birth.
  • We've mourned deaths.
  • We've experienced health crisis's of our own, many in our close knit extended families.
  • We've cheered at more sporting events than you can shake a stick at.
  • We've had engagements and wedding planning.
  • We've had weddings.
  • We've had grandchildren.
  • We've built a house.
  • We've moved a few times.
  • We've grown older and maybe some wiser.

Many things have changed, but we are still blessed!  We still recognize, maybe even more deeply, how meaningful a simple act can be in times when life hurts.

So, maybe an activity book and crayons does not "fix" the hurt, but maybe it lets you know that you are not alone that there are people who care.  Maybe the little bunny ears that your daughter gets to wear this Easter will someday be a wonderful reminder of a victory won over a battle you never wanted to fight.  Maybe the stuffed lamb will become a mascot as you travel the winding roads of life reminding you that God knew this road would be part of your path.

As this draws to a close, I (Tina B) must take this time to tell each of my Easter Buddies what treasures you are to me.  How you inspire me to generosity.  How you help me to see a world that is much larger than my own.  How I am amazed each time I see all the goodies you bring and the time you sacrifice just to help with a kind of strange idea that I had no clue we would still be doing 10 years later, nor did any of you.  But you've done it and you've made a difference!  Thank you!  May you all be blessed to be a blessing!

Oh and just because that whole write up was so mushy, I thought I'd end with a little humor.  Most of these photos were taken by my daughter Lauren (she is one of the births we celebrated along our journey) and all of you "Buddies" who were at assembly day know that she threatened to take your picture from the back if you didn't turn around.  So I hope you enjoy these little snapshots from our day!

Here are some more snapshots from the day ...

Lauren warned you ;-)

Cindy L

That's better we can now see your smiling face again!

I think Laurie was laughing at Lauren in this picture, but at least she didn't get her back shot.  Now Cindy W shows what you're really supposed to do when Lauren calls your name - straight on, smile!

Tina Chooses

This is technically not a "back" shot.  And look guys, Tina's actually working instead of "just"organizing.

Here is our photographer (Lauren) with one of her selections.  And here is Sarah who was a real trooper all day and quickly became one of Lauren's best friends!  Thanks, Sarah!
