Happy Easter!

Easter Buddies

Well, what new do you say after 12 years of doing something? I'm not sure that I know the answer to that. (If you want to read a little more about the Easter Buddies, how we came to be and how things are organized you might want to take a look at some of the prior year's pages - see links at the bottom of this page.)  Our motives remain the same and that is to recognize that we have been blessed and be a blessing; to do something beyond ourselves. This year, we had a treat to have more of the Easter Buddies together than several other years and I was struck by the value there-in. You see when we formed this group we were all, or at least almost all, seeing each other on a nearly daily basis, since we worked in the same department at the same company. Well, over time, things have changed and now very few of us interact at all in our regular work days. So to have this annual reminder of the ties that bind us, is a gift. This year we also had the treat of having some of our families join us. Barb O brought her niece, Shelley, and great-niece, Ava, along whom we had not met before. Cindy L brought one of her daughters, Sara, who is now just a regular ole Easter Bud. I brought my 2 kids, Jake and Lauren, again this year.

Even as we enjoyed the time together, I thought of how when a medical emergency comes up, it often draws people together who might just be "too busy" otherwise. I, for one, am thankful to be amongst a group of gals who took some time from our busy lives to come together not because we "had" to but because we "wanted" to. You see when you know God's blessed you, and you know it is not all about "you", you are more able to allow those blessings to flow through you. So today I pray that each one reading this would be reminded of how very much they have, and then go give some of that away! "...freely ye have received, freely give." Matthew 10:8b ... Give a smile; give a word of encouragement; give an act of service; give a tangible gift; give a gift of your time and energy ... the possibilities are endless.

Here are some more snapshots from the day ...

We jokingly call this - grass salad.

Just a sampling of all of the stuff.

Cindy W is always so expressive when she explains something.  We love to hear her stories!

Shelley caught off-guard in one of our candid shots.

It is so hard to believe Lauren wasn't even born when we started all of this.  Now she's one of the pro's with each of the steps involved.

Mother (Cindy L) and Daugther (Sara) work together to touch another mother and daughter whom they will likely never meet.

Laurie and Cindy W checking out the goods.

Barb ties the bow on one of the young boys goodie bags.

Look at the those smiles!

Ava and Lauren became fast friends!
