Happy Easter!

from the
Easter Buddies

(Jean B, Tina B, Tina G, Cindy L, Sheri L, Laurie M, Cindy W and Barb O)

I did not have the pleasure of participating in the assembly day this year. But as you can see in the pictures (thanks to Cindy W) it was once again a huge success. I am told we did break our streak of assembling 104 "baskets" and this year the number was 108.

I came across a quote the week before assembly day 2006 ~ "Do yourself a favor. Be a part of something extraordinary." That is just what Easter Buddies has become - something extraordinary. It has become a way that each of us ladies and our children can reach beyond ourselves. Although not all of our children are able to help out with the assembly, most of them get involved on some kind of level - everything from picking out stuffed animals, to advising on just what the cool "boy" item will be this year. Our children are seeing their moms and others model what we have strived so hard to teach them.

We're just a bunch of ladies who have been blessed and want to be a blessing. We are humbled by all that God has given us and want to touch others who are struggling right now. We realize a deck of card, a jar of nail polish, a suction cup basketball hoop is not going to take away the pain, but it will show them that they are not alone. So, yes, we are doing ourselves a favor by being involved in something extraordinary. Because invariably we are the ones most touched by this act. So ...

Sheri & Laurie hard at it. That's more like it - stop and give us a smile.

What it is all about!

Shelby doing a wonderful job!

This is the poem which is written on each of the gift tags:

These Special Wishes
Are Just for You ...

When you close your eyes at the
end of each day, I wish you
contented and peaceful sleep.
When you are fearful or uncertain,
I wish for warmth and light
to surround you.
When you dream,
I wish you soaring images and
endless possibilities.
When you wake each morning,
I wish you the joy of anticipating
a beautiful day ahead.
When you face problems,
I wish you boundless strength and
courage to guide you.
When you walk along your path,
I wish you lasting friendships
to brighten your way.
Most of all,
I wish you love ...
to fill your heart and make your
world complete.
