Happy Easter!

Easter Buddies

Easter Buddies

(Tina B, Tina G, Cindy L, Sheri L, Laurie M, Cindy W and Barb O)

One of our wonderful Easter Buddies, Sheri L hostessed this year.  It was such a delight to get to hang out at her place with some of us Easter Buddies.  With Sheri hostessing, it meant that I did not get to see all the goodies all together until the assembly day.  The result was just amazing.  This group of women's generosity never ceases to inspire me.  And when I stop to acknowledge the source of the generosity (God), I am even more humbled to be able to pass along just a little of the blessings He has blessed us with.  For those who are maybe new around here - Easter Buddies is a group of ladies who currently or previously worked together who realized that God had blessed them and looked for an opportunity to share those blessings in a tangible way.  So in 2001, it began with with a phone call to our closest Children's hospital to see if perhaps they would allow us to donate Easter baskets full of goodies as gifts to the children and their families who need to be in the hospital over that holiday.

With their "yes", that year and every year since, we have each gone shopping on our own with our own children to load up on goodies to pack the baskets (bags) with.  As we do so, each of us experiences the way God leads in simple, yet meaningful ways.  We pick up a deck of cards and know some young boy will use them to build card houses as he recovers from surgery.  We pick up a brightly colored stuffed monkey and know some sweetie who faces test after test to determine just what is wrong will use it as her mascot.  We pick up a butterfly headband and know that some 2 year old will proudly announce her beauty to her family.  We pick up a super soft bunny and know some mommy will hold on to it for dear life as they face the battles with their newborn.   We pray for each of the children and families who, no doubt, would rather not be in a position to receive these bags.  But, nonetheless, hope that these bags serve as a reminder that they are remembered and cared for - most of all by a loving God.

Here are some more snapshots from the day ...

Lauren (Tina B's daughter) is a pro - she dove right in to hole punching bags to prepare them for the poems and labels.

This gives you have idea of just some of the goodies we had to choose from this year as we literally stuffed 97 bags full!   -- I told you these ladies are generous!

Easter Buddies always provides such a great opportunity for us to catch up.

Is that an expressive face or what?

Sheri L even smiles when she's filling bags with grass.
