Happy Easter!

Easter Buddies 2008 was once again a success. The early Easter (March 23rd) did sneak up on us a bit. So much so that I was really beginning to wonder if we would just fill 4 bags and go home. The reality was that our tables were just as overflowing as always and the assembly day was just as gratifying. Each of the "Buddies" contributed in such generous ways and this year we even had the blessing of receiving donations from a local toy store - Topsy Turvy Toys. (Thank you Topsy Turvy Toys - the items you donated were absolutely wonderful!)

This is just a sampling of a couple of the surfaces that were filled with goodies.

Just to add to the last-minute nature of this year, we were pounded with a winter storm the day before the scheduled assembly day and for a time it looked like we were going to have to postpone. As it worked out on the actual day, the roads had been cleared and all was well.

This year I had the joy of including both of my children in the assembly day activities - amazing to think my eldest was only 2 and my youngest was not even born when we started all of this. Lauren actually ended up saving the day when all of us were just about to start packing up our filled bags only to hear Lauren ask, "When are we going to do the stuffed animals?" We had nearly 50 stuffed animals that had been brought in earlier on and in all the hustle and bustle, totally forgotten, except, apparently by Lauren. So the already full bags became even fuller, and we all had a good chuckle.

The 85 filled bags.

At the end of the day we had individually filled 85 bags to the brim. Yet another year to celebrate God's goodness and to reach outside of ourselves.

P.S. We had a special "buddy" help out with the selection of the items this year, but we missed her on assembly day! Thanks, Brianna, you made a big difference!

Here are some more snapshots from the day ...

Cindy, doing what Cindy does best ... telling a story!

Yes, we finally did get her to work ;-)

But this shows what it is really all about - relationships.  Our Easter Buddies friendships reach well beyond the "assembly day"

The next generation just getting started adding grass to the bags.

Sheri has this down to a science.  And isn't she amazing in her coordinating outfit.  I've heard of ladies coordinating their outfit with their bag, but this is a little over the top, don't you think?

Tina, doing that organization thing she does.

Maybe I should be the next Easter Buddies mascot, what do you think?
