Happy Easter!

Easter Buddies

115 bags was our final tally this year. What a remarkable thing it is to even consider that. I will state yet again Easter Buddies was started after the tragic death of one of our Easter Buddy's husband, Jerry Lefeld, and an acknowledgement by us that we had been blessed in order to be a blessing. Too much of life has a way of trying to lull us into thinking it is all about ourselves, when, in truth, it is not! Easter is the ultimate demonstration that our lives are not our own. We were bought with a price ("For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." 1 Corinithians 6:20) - that of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

So we take this time out to on purpose do something that is not about us. Something to reach out to others who are hurting. Something to reach out to those who are in this time going through something very hard. We do this not because we have things all figured out. Not because we are immune in some way. Quite the opposite! We do this because we know, each in our own way, what it is to hurt, what it is to need someone to care. We also do this because - like a piece of wallart that our Easter Buddy hostess has on her wall says, "There is always, always, ALWAYS, something to be thankful for." May we always remember this and chose to focus on this.     ...

Here are some more snapshots from the day ...

A little closer up picture of the stuff - and this is just one of the tables.  With making 115 bags - there was a whole lot of stuff this year!

In order to get this first picture, Lauren and I had to literally tag team from both sides to 'corner' Sheri, but we pulled it off.

Sorry Sheri, but if you make it difficult too take your picture, this is what can happen.  lol

More fun filling the bags!

... This year, you might notice we are in a new location - there is a story here as well. Which is once again a story so befitting of Easter Buddies and the inspiration that each of my friends brings to me. This is the home of Sheri L. She is truly one of the most sweet, gentle, generous, and caring ladies you could ever meet. And yet, like it or not, she has had to be one of the toughest also! That is why I say it is so befitting of Easter Buddies. As you know Easter Buddies was born out of tragedy. It reaches out to those in hard situations - children in the hospital. Life includes hard! This home is not the same home that you've seen in prior years for Sheri, not because she had the pleasure of building a new home, or the joy of up-sizing or down-sizing, or right-sizing or whatever at her leisure. No, instead, Sheri faced the horrific sight of the home she had raised her boys in being destroyed by a catastrophic fire. Taking with it so many items replaceable and not. This lovely home in these pictures this year is a message that God can indeed carry us through. As I said earlier - none of us come to Easter Buddies from a place of immunity. We've been blessed to be a blessing and there is indeed always, always, ALWAYS something to be thankful for! Happy Easter!
