Happy Easter!

Easter Buddies

from the
Easter Buddies

(Tina B, Cindy L, Sheri L, Laurie M, and Cindy W)

18 times. Anything you do this many times can start to feel a bit part of you. Easter Buddies is just that kind of thing for me. Yes this year was our 18th time gathering to put together Easter bags full of goodies for the children who need to be in the closest Children's Hospital over this signficant holiday. The closest Children's Hospital is an hour's drive by the way. If you've read any of the previous pages, you know that Easter Buddies was actually born out of tragedy. One of our dear Easter Buddies' husband was killed in a terrible accident while at work right around this time of year. Tragedies have a way of taking your breath away. They also have a way of helping to clarify some of what we take for granted. We shouldn't, but we do. Lord, forgive us.

Here are some more snapshots from the day ...

This was just some of the stuff this year.

Who doesn't enjoy a sweet stuffed animal.

These are the ladies hard at work.

Look at these faces! One of our favorite things to do while we 'work' is chat.

... So each year we pause and acknowledge what God has given us and reach out to those who are in crisis right that very moment. It is an honor and joy even. The process that is. The process of gathering things we know we will never keep. The process of choosing goodies to fill 1 bag, then another, then another and on and on it goes. We filled 110 such bags to the absolute brim this year. None of them the same as another and isn't that just appropriate. None of our journeys are the same; none of the people who receive these bags journeys will be the same. Yet through it all God remains God and we treasure His promise of Easter. One who sacrificed for all who would just receive His free gift, that they may know an eternity with Him. And really as much as we enjoy each other's company and the joy of giving, we also give thanks that any tragedy is temporary compared to eternity.
